Amidst the many discussions about Digital Transformation and advancements in FinTech, the question remains – are we there yet?

This two-day executive class presented by the Ateneo Institute for the Digital Enterprise (AIDE) under the auspices of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business - Center for Continuing Education will look into the readiness and the speed of adaptation of Philippine industries to the call for digital transformation. We will zero-in on how fintech is giving birth to new business and economic models.

IV. ICO & STO – Fundraising for Business through Tokenization: A Primer on Initial Coin Offering in the Philippine Market

Companies and individuals are increasingly considering initial coin offerings (ICOs) and security token offerings (STOs) as ways to raise funds or participate in investment opportunities. While these digital assets and the technology behind them may present a new and efficient means for carrying out financial transactions, they also bring increased risk of fraud and manipulation because the markets for these assets are less regulated than traditional capital markets. 

Here in the Philippines, regulators SEC and BSP have commenced drafting laws to ensure that we are prepared when this new wave of funding becomes popular.
