Description

Corporate Governance and Risk Management is a two-day course that reinforces awareness and understanding of the rationale and requirements of good corporate governance. At the same time, it initiates the use of tools to assess corporate governance practice. It advocates companies to strive for global competitive advantage by enhancing and developing the hard and soft aspects supportive of good corporate governance. The course highlights the provision of an opportunity to develop a plan or strategy in strengthening organizational practice of good corporate governance and risk management.

The course also enables you to assess your firm’s exposure to risk and understand the risk management process of identification, measurement, monitoring, and oversight of risk. 

Who should attend

This program is designed for Board Chairpersons, Board Directors, CEOs and Senior Management Personnel of banks and quasi-banks.

Mr. Alberto L. Buenviaje

is a Strategic Management Consultant, Chairman of AAK Developers Inc., and is a member of the Board of The New Medical City Hospital (Professional Services, Inc.), Medical Arts Tower Inc., AMA Group of Companies, PICAR Development Corporation, First Municipal Development Corporation, and other institutions in various industries. In the academe, he was Dean of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business from 2007 to March 2014 and the Executive Director of the Ateneo-Regis Master of Business Administration Program from 1997 to 2014. He is also a professor of Strategic Management and Economics at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and a Trustee of AMA University. He is likewise a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the League of Corporate Foundations’ Corporate Social Responsibility Institute.

He has facilitated more than 30 Strategic Management Workshops for private and public institutions. These institutions include Matsushita Electric Corporation (National Panasonic), Philippine Stock Exchange, Philippine Central Depository, Sterling Tobacco, St. Peter Life Plan, Bombo Radyo, Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation, National Electrification Administration, Bengzon Law Firm, a national political party, two of the top five unibanks in the country and others.

Atty. Reynaldo Destura

has been handling criminal, civil, special proceedings, and administrative
cases in regular courts, quasi-judicial, and regulatory agencies of the government. He is also wellversed in all facets of Human Resources (HR) Management obtained from his actual experience as an HR clerk, line manager, and HR executive.

He owns and heads the Destura and Associates Law Office, a Makati-based law firm. It handles clients,such as: Sharp Philippines Corporation, Goethe Institut, Deutsche Knowledge Service Pte. Ltd. - Manila, Hi Eisai Pharma, Juventis Pharma, Eastern Petroleum, Tiara Commercial & Industrial Corporation (the exclusive Philippine distributor of Michelin, Kumho and Continental Tires), Elite Models Manila, Antel Land Holdings Inc., La Elegancia Jewellers, Wellington Flour Mills, Hayakawa Electronics, Enkei Philippines, and Salcedo Park Residences.

In the field of labor relations, Atty. Destura is a consultant to labour intensive enterprises in the field ofmanufacturing, business process outsourcing/contact centers, condominium corporations and homeowners associations, tourism, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, and automotive. He seats in management panels during collective bargaining negotiations. Further, he has hands-on expertise on issues involving strikes and lockouts.

Atty. Destura is a life member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, a registered Immigration Lawyer with the Bureau of Immigration. He is an active Patent Lawyer prosecuting Intellectual Property cases at the Intellectual Property Office. He is also a law professor and a Resource Consultant of People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).

He has a Bachelors degree in Political Science, postgraduate degree in Law, and Masters degree in Industrial Relations. 

Ms. Sofia Ladores

is the Chief Risk Officer and Head of the Risk Management Group at Landbank of the Philippines.

Prior to this, she was the Business Continuity Officer and Data Protection Officer of Landbank of the Philippines, and Assistant Vice President & Head of Credit Risk Management Division of Philippine National Bank, among others.

Ms. Ladores has a Masters degree in Business Administration from De La Salle University. She is also a graduate of Advance Bank Management from Asian Institute of Management and a Certified ISO 22301 Implementer and Specialist by International Consortium of Resilience based in Lombard, Illinois, USA.
