The Sustainability Imperative: ESGs from Concept to Action

Description

The course will introduce basic concepts of corporate sustainability, give examples of how different companies embedded ESG into their strategies and activities, and explore ESG initiatives for local companies.

Who should attend

The Sustainability Imperative course is appropriate for anyone in a management or supervisory position who wishes to be more familiar with the language and concerns of sustainability, or who needs to participate in the execution of company and departmental sustainability strategies and initiatives. This course is fit for managers in both the private sector (Publicly Listed or Privately-Held Corporation) and the public sector. It may also be useful for people being groomed for management or leadership positions as companies encounter both opportunities and risks in a rapidly changing environment.

At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:

Dr. Emmanuel D. Delocado

Dr. Emmanuel D Delocado is the Director of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability. He received his bachelor’s degree and his PhD in Biology from the Ateneo de Manila University. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology and the Laboratory Head of the Ateneo Biodiversity Research Laboratory. He specializes in freshwater biodiversity and insect systematics, and his research interests include biodiversity conservation and education for sustainable development. Concurrently, he serves as the Country Co-manager of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Philippines (SDSN PH) and the Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network on Ecological Education and Culture (AUN-EEC).

Ms. Abigail Marie T. Favis

Ms. Abigail Marie T. Favis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Science at the Ateneo de Manila University. She teaches Environmental Science and Science, Technology, and Society. Her research interests include sustainable consumption, food waste, urban biodiversity, and green spaces. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from the Ateneo de Manila University and took her Master of Science in Environmental Sanitation at the State University of Ghent, Belgium. She served as the Program Manager for Campus Sustainability in the same university for more than a decade. She is also the co-founder of The Ateneo Wild, a social media citizen science campaign on urban biodiversity. 

Ms. France Justine A. Arugay

Ms. France Justine A. Arugay is the Business Development Officer of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability. She holds a master’s degree in Sustainability Management from Ateneo de Manila University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Major in Management from University of Asia and the Pacific. She worked in the banking industry focusing on local and foreign banks’ merchant acquiring business. She also served as a senior sustainability consultant working on advisory and assurance engagements. Her expertise include business models, social enterprises, and sustainable finance.

Dr. Ma. Assunta C. Cuyegkeng

Dr. Ma. Assunta C. Cuyegkeng is a Professor at the Department of Educational Leadership and Management of the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD) at the Ateneo de Manila University. She is the Executive Director of the Lily Gokongwei Ngochua Leadership Academy and the Managing Editor of the Journal of Management for Global Sustainability. She obtained her doctoral degree in chemistry from the University of Regensburg in Germany, and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry from Ateneo de Manila University. She was the founding director of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability and was the Vice President for the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila, taking charge of operations from 2006-2010.
